Tokyo Japanese Restaurant Statesboro, Ga

June 7th, 2010
Menu: Lunch

Husband Campbell's Rating: 3/5 Soup Cans
Wife Campbell's Rating: 3/5 Soup Cans

This restaurant is now under new ownership, since March. The same people who run Oriental Express also run this place. It has a decent atmosphere but disappointingly there was not a traditional sushi bar. They did have a wide variety of sushi on their menu and we chose to go with the two role sushi lunch special. For Statesboro, I was surprised that it was only $6.95 per special which gives Tokyo a Campbell's Condensed Soup Can for price.

Sorry no pictures for this post.

The Tempura Appetizer fell short. Maybe we are biased because we have had the best tempura in the world  and nothing is going to compare to Hinoki Japanese Restaurant in Hilton Head, SC. There is just melts in your mouth. But back to Tokyo, Hinoki will have to be another day. The Spicy Tuna roll was good. Not as much Sriracha as I like to have in it, but I did enjoy the crunchy tempura they stuffed in there. The California Rolls were good as well, although I had a few with dry crab, which is an unfortunate party foul. Paul's order was on the contrary up to par. He also ordered the Phildelphia Roll where the smoked salmon and the cream cheese played well off of each other. It had a familiar taste that was very pleasant.  Overall, good service, sushi that hit the spot for today, and we might be back not really for the taste but maybe just for a cheep 'got to have it' sushi day.
